Weeding Day 21.11.13

Room 2 decided to help out Mrs Hayward in the Hive today.
It was Weeding Day at lunchtime,
so they decided to make a bouquet out of buttercups and clovers to give to their teacher.
Thank you very much to the kind-hearted and thoughtful children of Room 2.

Toy Sale 2013

One sunny, Thursday afternoon,
Room 1, 2 and 33 had a Toy Sale.

The junior school discussed about the ways to support the community in need,
which links to our topic, changes - changing others lives.

We talked about the children at Starship Hospital,
and what we can do to change their lives.
We thought that they could be sad,
not be able to run around and play outside like we do.
That is why we decided to raise money
so they can buy new toys to play with indoors.

The day before the sale day, we brought in toys for the stalls
that our classmates may like to buy.

On Thursday afternoon, all of us got to pick a toy we like from the stalls

and pay $2 for the donation.

Take a look at our cool purchases.

We also made posters to promote our Toy Sale Day.
Do ask us about them and come in to our classroom
to have a look at our creative posters.

Thank you to all of our wonderful parents
for your generous support towards this event.

Sue and Ambi from St John 2013

One afternoon, we were called to the hall to meet
Sue and Ambi the mini ambulance from St John.

Sue taught us different actions to show the three emergency rescue teams -
the flashing lights action for the ambulance,
the soldier salute action for the police,
and the fire hose action for the firefighters.

Sue told us that only the very badly injured people can call the emergency number 111.
She showed us her oxygen mask and the oxygen tank she keeps in her real ambulance.

We got to feel the oxygen through the mask with our hands.
It felt damp and cold.

Jason and Chase were our paramedics of the moment.
They put on the vests and gear that the real paramedics wear to work.

We all had a go at bandaging each other's injuries.
We had to wrap thoughtfully so that the bandages don't come undone.
It was a lot of fun!

Thank you Sue and Ambi, for visiting Point View School.
We hope you visit us next year!

Grandparents Day 2013

One Friday in November, our grandparents visited Room 2 on Grandparents Day.

First, we gave them the origami flowers we made for them the dat before,
and then we sang songs we enjoy singing in class and that
we have learnt for the production this year.

Then, the grandparents were invited to work at different activity stations with us.
After that we went outside for some folk dancing -
Boy, our grandparents can dance!

In the afternoon, we held a special assembly just for the grandparents.
They were blown away by our performances.

We loved having our grandparents in our classroom.
Please visit us again next year!
